How’s Your Lead Follow-up?

Having a good memory has always been a challenge for me. My head goes in a million different directions, on a daily basis.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Ron White, an Afghanistan Veteran, who shares how he can memorize anything and everything he puts his mind to. He was at an HMMC Conference I attended, and he was walking around looking at each person and studying something about us all. Then, one by one, when he began to talk, he had us all stand up, and went around the room saying our names. He demonstrated his ability to do this with relating something to different points in the room. We soon found ourselves memorizing a list of items, as he took us through the exercise.

By far, the most compelling part of the presentation he shared, was how he was memorizing every veteran that paid the ultimate sacrifice, in Afghanistan. Then, to honor our veterans, he wrote every name on a wall. Over 2000 names, in order and rank, one by one. This video is so moving, I get choked up every time I look at it.

Ron related his memorizing skills to business: How we follow up with what we remember about customers, prospects, co-workers, workflow etc. For us at KBK, yet to develop the abilities of Ron White, we use several different tools:

If you’d rather take the Ron White Challenge, and learn how to have an outstanding memory, here’s his website. Wait until you see the little girl name all the presidents. Finally, and most importantly, don’t forget to thank Ron for his service.
